Policies & Procedures
The Hayes Policies and Procedures
School policies cover every aspect of school life. Below are some of our most important policies for your reference. If you want to know our policy on something that is not listed, or paper copies of any documents please ask the school office. For details of our use of the Pupil Premium Grant and Sports Premium Funding, please click on the Statutory Information tab above.
Policies address the practical implications of how to achieve the school's vision and are a key means of ensuring that agreed values underpin day-to-day decisions and actions in our school. They are concerned with key processes within school and are about interactions between school, pupils, parents and community. They are about ensuring highly effective teaching and learning, about safety and about basic human rights.
All policies at The Hayes are intended to guide the work of the Head Teacher and the staff to provide a framework for the smooth functioning of our school based in a shared understanding of the school's strategic plan and vision.
We have 3 categories of Policy:
- Statutory - covering major strategic areas required by law, as stated by the Government's Statutory Policies for Schools document (November 2019)
- Discretionary - additional policies covering additional areas, not required by law.
- Curriculum - policies on specific subject areas of the curriculum. These are all discretionary.
Our policies are reviewed annually or bi-annually in accordance to our 'review of statutory policies and document' and each policy is 'owned' jointly by a member of staff and the Leadership Team or a Governor, and ratified by the Governing Body.
Our Statutory policies can be seen below and some of our most important discretionary policies are also shared on this page.

Safeguarding
The Hayes Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed in the Statutory Policies and Safeguarding section of this page.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs SInclair (Deputy Head Teacher). Our Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Olley (Headteacher). Mrs Roberts and Mrs Lee are also trained Designated Leads.
